Carousel Play is a term that we use in The Springboard Curriculum to offer open-ended, playful learning opportunities for pupils with special educational needs.
In this planning, HALLOWEEN we share 5 different multi-sensory activities to inspire play for children with Special Educational Needs (and their educators!). In carousel play, we choose to repeat the same 5 activities Monday - Friday which means that this planning provides 1 week of carousel play activities.
“Pumpkin Patch” “Grow a Pumpkin” “Halloween Fancy Dress” “Ghosts” “Halloween Potions”
Each activity shares a photo, a list of the resources needed, the key words for communication boards and suggestions as to how the activity can be used creatively to meet children's diverse needs. These pages can be printed off and put with each activity to give educators ideas for the different ways that they can interact with the resources to support pupils learning.
Within each activity, a child may show learning in any of the core curriculum areas. We provide examples of the learning that we might observe in relation to the Developmental Markers described in the The Springboard Curriculum: Assessment Framework.
